Aberdeen | Shore-to-ship

Sinewave provided a bespoke grid connection to reduce the utilisation of the vessel’s diesel generators whilst berthed in Aberdeen.

What is Shore-to-Ship?

Shore-to-ship is a system that allows docked ships to connect to the local electrical grid and receive power from shore, enabling them to shut down their onboard auxiliary engines. This technology reduces air and noise pollution, as well as vibrations, in port areas.

Project Brief

  • 1 DNO RMU (Ring main unit) with Metering unit and individual COP (Code of Practice) metering panel

  • 1 Containerised substation foundation design, installation, earthing, and terminations

  • 1 Shore power cable management system (Connection structure) - Design, civils install, lifting operation and LV (Low voltage) terminations

  • Bespoke ramp design and installation for LV cable containment to allow vehicle access. Necessary due to restrictions excavating the dock’s surface

  • HV (High voltage) pulls and terminations between the container and the DNO RMU

  • IDNO metering arrangements

  • Commissioning of DNO/IDNO new assets

  • Testing of all LV circuits

  • Earthing installation and design
