Caerphilly

Sinewave delivered a future‑ready EV charging hub that balances technical integration, public safety in a live car park, and biodiversity reinstatement.

Introduction

Sinewave acted as the Principal Contractor, delivering the entire project, start to finish, based on a design provided by Source.

Working to their preferred combined DNO/IDNO cabinet architecture with an integrated LV feeder, we delivered a neat footprint suited to a live retail setting and future-proofed the entire site for eventual upgrades.

Design & Coordination

  • Layout for combined DNO (National Grid) / IDNO (OPN) cabinets with LV feeder integrated.

  • Repositioned existing infrastructure, using drainage diversion to remove manholes from EV bays.

  • Implemented turning chambers to enable easy future replacements & upgrades

  • Safeguarding programme - heavy deliveries between 09:00–15:00; live interface managed with marshals and clear pedestrian routes.

Scope of works

Civils & Groundworks

  • Three‑section precast concrete plinth installed within a tight car park footprint.

  • Deep excavation (2.5m) with temporary works & shoring for drainage diversion.

  • Retaining wall works and sheet piling/ground shoring to protect the road/pavement.

  • Car park resurfacing - repeated backfill reworks due to wet deliveries and weather.

Installations

  • 4× high‑power chargers (150–160 kW), 8 outputs; wider bays plus disabled bay.

  • Lighting pillar feeds from an integrated cabinet.

  • Monolith signage connected on site; CCTV infrastructure installed.

Completion

  • Site commissioning was conducted with consistent supervision to ensure a safe and smooth handover.

  • Final project delivered with zero incidents, emphasising Sinewave and Source’s joint commitment to safety.
