UK Government announces £1 billion to cut costs for businesses, drive growth and clean up UK roads
The UK Government have today announced a £1 billion injection, incentivising businesses to adopt clean energy transportation.
The Zero Emissions Truck and Van grants and the Depot Charging Scheme are set to boost to the EV sector, encouraging businesses to choose electric vehicles and moving the UK towards its net zero goals. This provides an opportunity for businesses and local authorities installing EV charging infrastructure to make savings.
Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather said, “This £1 billion investment cuts cost for British businesses, supports jobs, cleans up our roads, and gives operators protection against shifting global fuel prices.
The logistics sector is the backbone of the UK economy, worth £170 billion and supporting 2.7 million jobs. We’re helping them expand and decarbonise their fleets whilst saving them cash, driving growth up and down the country.”
This new funding opens new avenues for businesses exploring avenues to electrify their fleet. Investment in green energy provides a boost to the entire EV sector, making green transportation more accessible for people and businesses across the UK.
But when it comes to creating that infrastructure, there’s no subsidy for the right team. Working with the right partner ensures the ability to plan, execute and deliver projects with efficiency and quality.
“One of the great challenges in transport electrification is the commercial fleet. Faced with the high capital expenditure of depot electrification and vehicle procurement, any financial boost to the sector is welcomed!
The trick of the market now is to be able to capitalise. Early engagement with the right partners in both electrification and vehicle will help make the right decisions and to realise the savings on offer.’ - Ashley Hutchinson, Chief Operating Officer, Sinewave
